More About Ruth
Ruth in Pieces grew out of a life that didn't happen in neat little chapters.
There has been love here. Marriage and babies. Sisters and laughter. Faith and doubt. Grief, anger, ordinary Tuesday mornings, some spectacular mistakes, and more than a few things that made better sense looking backward.
The songs come from those places.
Ruth isn't interested in pretending she has figured out the secret to a beautiful life. She is much more interested in telling the truth about one—the parts that hurt, the parts that heal, the parts that are funny as hell once enough time has passed, and the people we love fiercely through all of it.
And the pieces?
They aren't just the broken things.
They're the people we've loved, the things we were taught, the things we stopped believing, old wounds, inside jokes, memories, mistakes, joy, grief, and every version of ourselves we've been along the way.
Ruth does not start over. She reworks what remains.
These songs are some of those pieces.
Maybe you'll recognize a few of your own in them.
